We've been to a few of the Ruth's Chris steakhouses around the country, even the original in New Orleans. This location is located upstairs from Sonoma Wine Bar in Town Center. It's your typical high end steak house....dark wood, dim lighting. The staff is great. All our reservations have been honored with no problems. The hostesses were friendly, and our servers were very good. As for food, everything we've tried has been great. Ironically our favorite items are not the steaks. The shrimp, ahi tuna & crab cocktail are delicious. The steaks are served on a sizzling plate with a heart attack's worth of butter. The white chocolate banana cream pie we had was heavenly. Over all it's a great place to go every once in a while for a special occasion or if you have no budget!

This was one of the best meals I've ever had, and my husband agreed. We started with the crab cakes, which were just as crab cakes should be...almost entirely crab. I detest a crab cake that is mostly cake and over seasoned with little crab to speak of. I had a Ruth's classic, and my starter was the spinach, strawberry and goat cheese salad. The goat cheese was mild, creamy, and obviously fresh, the dressing was not overdone, and the strawberries were just the right amount of ripe. My daughter and I had filets. She ate every bite, which is unusual for her. My husband had the New York strip. Each person's steak was done to perfection, and my husband and I could not finish ours. He added scallops which were tender and delicious. Mine came with dessert, which was enough for all of us to share. It was a perfect night on the patio, and just the way to end our Labor Day weekend visit with our daughter, who is stationed here. I might say the price point is $$$$ rather than $$$, but honestly, we didn't mind at all because the service was awesome, the food incredible, and we will definitely be back (even though my husband jokes it will cost him a kidney, lol). It is upscale...I would not bring small children. It is perfect for a special evening.

Exceptional food and service. Dining out does not get any better then this. We were checked on constantly by multiple severs. Cannot express enough how great the service is. Never have to look around for someone to ask a question or get a refill as the staff is always there for you. Food is best there is in a sit down restaurant. Only detractor is attire in this location, understand its Va Beach, but shorts and flip flops is not appropriate for Ruth Chris.

Wow, I thought my first experience at Ruth's Chris would have been a 5 star experience, especially since I've heard nothing but great things about this place. The usual complaint I would hear was only about their prices, but that the prices are worth it because of the quality! I will say though, that we were only here for Happy Hour dinner and drink specials, so hopefully when I return one day and order an actual steak, my rating and review will go up. Yes, we had a very large party of about 20 or so, and dined on the patio for HH. I ordered the "Prime Sliders and Fries" and my boyfriend ordered the "Spicy Lobster." It took forever, I mean forever as in pretty much an hour to get our food. Our waiter was nice, very cool, it's just that service was slow. I was hoping he would get more help. Food- it was ok. I know it wasn't a steak, and not what the place is known for, but I thought that the sliders would have been good, especially since it was topped with some type of Bleu Cheese Crust crumble. They were just ok. Fries were ok. Their complimentary house chips with Ranch dipping sauce was my favorite thing. Would I return? Of course! I want to try the steak and truly see and taste what the hype is about. Return for Happy Hour, maybe not. Or if I do, I would definitely come with a smaller group, and I'd definitely order something else.

I chose this spot to celebrate a birthday while we were at VA beach for the weekend. I never been before and wanted to try the "hype." We arrived about 45 minutes before our reservation and we hit up the happy hour- indoors though because it was a very hot day. It was a pretty decent HH menu and very reasonable prices considering what is said about the prices here. But, we ordered a few Manhattans and margaritas, which were both great! They also have complimentary chips with dip that the birthday boy really enjoyed. They look burnt, but they're not lol. Now, on to dinner. I made reservations online and I briefly indicated we would be celebrating a birthday. Though it was said they note any special occasions, I had no expectations. However, they did remember and the table was decorated with birthday confetti and the waitress immediately acknowledged my partner's birthday when she greeted us. So, they already were on my good side at that point :) The waitress was very helpful and knowledgable with any questions that we asked. My partner ordered the cowboy ribeye and I ordered the stuffed chicken with mashed potatoes. I questioned the quality of food against their prices ($55 steak), but when our steak and chicken came to the table sizzling and smelling like heaven, it was a wrap! Yum! (Whatever you do, don't touch that plate! It's hot!) We also ordered the barbecue shrimp for an appetizer, which is nothing like barbecue by the way, but it's delicious! We were both very pleased with our meal and my partner finished his entire steak and was very happy, which was the goal as it was his birthday! Both stuffed and pleased, the waitress comes with the birthday dessert to end an already great meal. I usually do not give 5 stars, but my partner suggested I give 5 stars lol. I can't speak for others, but our service and food overall was a great experience. They also have a seasonal menu option in which you get 3 courses; salad, entree and a dessert, for about $45 I think. It is very limited however, but it seemed like a good option. But, I opted not to get it.

This is strictly for happy hour on the outdoor patio! The service was stellar! Their HappyHour is awesome! $8 food and drink specials. I want the prime burger and lobster!! Didn't get to try the food. The atmosphere is second to none! I had a manhattan it was mixed perfectly. The domestics are only $3 on HH and they have a huge tv outside too. A second or third tv and this would be a great place to watch sunday football for the 4 o'clock games. And eat/drink happyhour food!!

Enjoyed a birthday dinner here with my hubby. Made the reservations in advance. When we arrived they sat us in a quiet, romantic, corner. They had "Happy Birthday" confetti on the table for me. The service was perfection! The place was clean, and the ambience was relaxing and romantic. The steak was amazing and perfectly cooked. The bread and our sides were very good. I enjoyed a glass or wine and some sparkling water. We left relaxed and happy! Definitely a special occasion place for us, but we will return.

Outstanding dining experience! Best lamb chops in the U.S. as I have had better in Bahrain. Service was impeccable. The only negative I can think of is that the main course should include a side dish as $9 for a baked potato is steep. We will definitely return and recommend.

I know that I will receive some "shade" for this review and the three stars instead of five but I was not really impressed. For the price of our food, the wait, the stone steps leading up to the dining area, and the food. We went for our 25th anniversary and my husband planned ahead. Yes he is amazing and I am blessed. We had the best service we have ever received in Hampton Roads. The gentleman told us that he rarely works here now since becoming a father and being blessed with a new full-time job. He comes to Ruth Cris just to interact with customers because he works from home and misses adult interaction. And wait for it, he loves his boss and co-workers so much he asked to stay on the schedule. He really loves his job and he made our experience wonderful. The table was decorated with sparkly Happy Anniversary decorations. The decor was wonderful. Thanks Ruth Cris! Can you tell that I have not mentioned the food yet. The steaks were good and the sides were well presented but fir the price you are paying for the atmosphere. It is everything you have read about. Beautiful seating, the restaurant is well organized and beautifully decorated to impress. I think we went when they were training a new Chef or line cook because our food did not match the other reviews we read. Not bad but it was just okay. The cuts of meat were "pretty" and if they had been prepared properly I know that they would have bed fabulous. The sides were great we ordered more sides to compensate for the meat. We enjoyed our meal of sides, the outstanding customer service from the hostess stand to the table where we were received the best table service ever!!!! We will be back for more MEAT because I believe our steaks were not the norm. I lived Ruth Cris even the take out boxes were classy. I will update this review after I try another steak. Our waiter made the night amazing. I hope I put enough information in the review so the mgmt can compliment me. Hugs to you, you great Dad!

Service was pretty decent here, especially if they're serving up some pretty good prime quality steaks. Although I made reservations here, I don't think it's really needed. Not a lot of folks were dining in when I came. It was pretty much empty. They have some bar-only specials too. As for the steak, they warn you ahead of the time of the sizzling 1800 degrees plate that comes to your table. I would recommend letting it breath for at least 10 minutes before you dive into. Eating some of it right away, left some uncomfortable, and burning feeling that lingered in my stomach for about a week...again let it cool down for a bit. They have unique $12 cocktails...and pretty strong btw. The other Ruth Chris' are pretty consistent with their steaks and service. They won't disappoint.

Just left Ruth Chris. Although the regular menu is quite pricey, I took advantage of their happy hour. All of the prices are a set $8.00per item and it is well worth it. I was apprehensive to go at first, but was presently surprised. The steak burger and crab Au gratin was delicious. Complimentary homemade chips and bread are guaranteed to hold down the hunger pains until you entrées arrive. The waitstaff at the bar make drinks quickly and work hard to attend to your needs in a controlled chaos...they handled our large party well. The atmosphere is loud but not too overwhelming. Great experience that I was glad to be a part of.

We went here last night again this week and as always we received awesome service. Our waiter was Shane and Tony and they both are a great pair. We had an Anniversary Dinner and the table was set up with little red hearts and Happy Anniversary confetti. It was just too cute! Shane and Tony did a very great job on making sure our water was always full which was great because I was really thirsty that day and drank a whole bottle of spring by myself. As appetizers we ordered Calamari and Crab Au Gratin, Calamari was ok but the Crab Au Gratin is always yummy. As the main dish we both ordered our own Tomahawk steaks and they both came out the perfect tempature, the taste was good. We lived in mainland Japan for 5 years and actually had REAL WAGYU once a week at our favorite restaurant. The taste between those two are totally different, the one in Japan is a melt in your mouth special type of taste. I also ordered a lobster tail on the side and I was really not impressed because it tasted a little over cooked and rubbery. I am a fan of lobster and have been known to buy 8 lobster tails a meal but thank god I did not do that because I would of been sad if they all came out like that. After our meal Tony showed us his great wrapping skills when we could not finish all of our food. Shane came out with an Anniversary Treat for to go which was very sweet of him to do.

I just had the filet mignon today and I think this was the best piece of steak that I've ever head. The steak cut like butter and it was sooooooo tender. I've had a lot of steaks in my life, but wow this one is amazing. I wish I could shake the chef's hand because that was amazing. Their mash potatoes are also really damn good as well. I don't know how they do it, but this place is really damn good.

Yes I am an idiot for coming to a steakhouse as a vegetarian. We just came for happy hour and the service was extremely poor. Good wine, hence the extra star. But man the service was a joke. Had to ask for things several times and one of us had to drink another one's water because they never returned. You'd think at a place like this the service would be on point but It sure was not! We just got a few happy hour things. Certain things were enjoyed others not as much. The desserts had to be sent back and the waiter tried to school me on what creme brulee is supposed to be. Come on buddy! It was clearly wrong, so give me a break. Will not return. Maybe if I would have sat in the dining area it would have been better. We were there for happy hour though so I guess that really wasn't an option.

I came on Monday night for Restaurant Week. I had a reservation and was seated early, which was very nice. I had put the dinner on HR FEN and got to meet several new friendly faces. Everything I ordered was good, the moscato, the shrimp and dessert. The staff was very professional and friendly. The manager, I believe his name was Sean/Shawn, was very nice and spoke to us several times. Great place for group to have a nice dinner!

A few yelp friends and I went to this place yesterday. . I have to say..the service could and should have been better. . I had to flag down the server several times, for everything that we needed, which he showed obvious dislike towards..but, had I not said anything, we would have continuously gotten ignored.. I had to get his attention to even order my food. . And he quickly shuffled away as soon as I told him the food I choose so I had to loudly say and water please because he didn't ask what I'd like to drink.. i chose the seared ahi tuna..the description says it is in a spirited sauce... I love seafood, I could really eat it all day At an upscale place like this I was excited to try it because surely it would be spectacular. .right?? Wrong:( the first bite was okay..then it stared The waiter said they use different mustards for the sauce It tasted like each bite was a mouth full of wasabi It was so strong I couldn't taste the tuna..at all It was burning my mouth I literally felt like I ate straight wasabi..the waiter hadn't filled my drink the whole time we were there so my sweet friend.. (whom I'd just met in person for the first time gave me her water.. ) I ordered my dessert..creme brulee and cindy ordered the bread pudding. . When my creme brulee came out it was completely soft lacking any crunchy top..i had been wanting to try this forever but wanted to try actual creme brulee not just creme. .this seemed like they previously torched the top and stuck it in the fridge.there was no shell layer on top When my friend told the waiter he got defensive and tried to explain what creme brulee is and the process. .she said I know what it is and it's not right it should have a slight hard shell on top and it doesn't The other friend that had ordered the bread pudding got hers and it was stale on the top and overly eggy all throughout.. They replaced our desserts and they came back perfect Completely different!! That was other than the conversation and company of my friends the best part of the meal.. The shell was there I could see real vanilla bean at the bottom of the dish, definitely wish they would have brought it out like this the first time.. in conclusion I think I'd give them another shot but I think it will be a while

The steaks here are immaculate. They have an awesome menu, but if there's anything you get, it's gotta be the steak! They have an extensive wine list to compliment your meal whatever you decide to eat. Ate here on thanksgiving, had their three course dinner, and it was a delightful experience. The host was really nice. His name was Will and if you're in the area he is also the GM for one life fitness on Virginia Beach Blvd. I went with the gumbo soup to start, no regrets here! The turkey was tender and juicy, cooked to perfection. And dessert was amazeballs.

My boyfriend and I have birthdays that are two days apart so we decided to celebrate at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. It was my first time going, and everything was exceptional! Our waiter, Glenn, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and made it the perfect evening. Since we were celebrating our birthdays we received complementary dessert and had our table decorated upon our arrival. Of course, the food was also absolutely delicious!

Superb service, as usual. Butteriffic steak, as usual. You know you're in a fancy schmancy place when your server has an assistant. Ribeye steak mid-rare. No other way to do it and no other cut will do. Don't try to argue with me. No other cut exists and any other temperature is over cooked. End of story. We also each had a wedge salad and shared sautéed mushrooms and au gratin potatoes. Huge sides people, make sure you're not greedy and try to eat a steak and a complete side on your own. Ok you can try, but you will be embarrassed when your buttons pop off your pants....OR just wear spandex like I did. Just kidding (or am I). As I've mentioned before don't come here and not order a steak. If you want chicken go to chick fil-a....for realz.

My husband surprised me with dinner here for our anniversary (which is Valentine's Day). We went the week before because they were booked Valentine's Day. We arrived about half an hour before our reservation so we waited at the bar & got a couple drinks. OMG, the appletinis I had were to die for! None have even come close. Mateo is an amazing mixologist, extremely friendly & professional. Our meal was spectacular! Our steaks were cooked to perfection. The au gratin potatoes are seriously addictive. Can't wait to celebrate there again!

went to Ruth Chris with my hubby and another couple last night for Valentines, and as Usual the food was Great! even tho they forgot to put my husband and our friend order in , and they didnt got their food till 10-15 min after I got mine we understood it was a busy night. But, the reason why I am taking a star off is because of the receptionist at check in. she was very rude, and had attitude with most people that where walking in , did she missed the training on good customer service , and smile ? I check in and 5 min later i was telling her our party of 4 where here, she said we had to wait, I told her ok but we had reservations at 8pm. She said "in a very rude way" it's 8:04 theres 3 people ahead of you.... WTH! But def didnt let her ruin my night, but in my opinion that's not the first person i want to speak to when coming to eat here. anyways, out waiter Glenn W was awsome, and same he's little helper. we had a great night! and enjoyed every bite of our steaks! :)

Decided to celebrate Mother's Day early this year (Wed 5/6/15) since my mom was going out of town for the weekend. This was my parent's first time eating here. We started off with the Escargot and Crab Au Gratin which, in my opinion, were very good. My mom, dad and wife all enjoyed the crab but they didn't even want to touch the snails. I get it...cooked snails aren't for everyone. No problem...more for me. Our entrees included a 16oz Ribeye, Filet, Swordfish, and Crab Cakes. I usually get the Cowboy (bone-in) Ribeye, but because of the cost, I decided to order the regular ribeye instead. As always, their steaks are awesome! If you like more of a sizzling buttery flavored, USDA prime steak, this place is for you...that is, if you don't mind spending the money on a high quality steak. Even though they're more of a steak house, they serve an excellent swordfish dish. I couldn't believe how thick the cut was. My wife said its one of the best swordfish dishes she's had in the area. My mom seemed to enjoy the crab cakes. I had a bite of it and thought it was good. Have I had better?...yes but I still enjoyed it. For our sides, we ordered fresh asparagus with hollandaise, mashed potatoes, and lobster mac and cheese. The asparagus and mashed potatoes were good. Kinda hard to mess those up. Even though I enjoyed to flavor of the mac n cheese, the macaroni itself seemed like they were a day old. Like I said, I still enjoyed it and will likely order it again, hoping to get better macaroni next time. What really made our evening was the great service we got. My wife and I visit Ruth's Chris several times a year and this was the first time we had Holly C. serve us. She was great! - very friendly and attentive to our table. Her assistant, Araz, was also great! Like Holly, he was also friendly, took care of all our needs and did everything with a smile:) Hopefully, should he desire, he'll be promoted to waiter/server in the near future. I'm not gonna lie...not everyone is gonna want to spend a good amount of money on a steak dinner. My dad is happy just eating steak at an all you can eat buffet. Some may also find this place a little pretentious. I, however, have been to just about every steak house in the area and still find Ruth's Chris to be my favorite. I don't eat red meat too often, so when I do, I make sure to make it count - I go to Ruth's Chris!

Really great place to eat! Went there for our anniversary and I had the best crab cake probably ever. It took about 45 min to get our food, which I would say, is the only downfall of the night. It is also very pricey. You have to order sides separate from your meal-- meaning sides aren't included with your meal.

Exceptional service. I am not a red meat eater, so I chose the seared Ahi Tuna entree with steamed broccoli. I requested no sauce and they were accommodating. Delicious! Fresh bread to start the meal was warm and perfectly crusty with a chewy interior. The food is delicious, but I can't for the life of me figure out how the cost of this place is completely justified. Still, it is delicious, and a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.

I really liked this place. I went on a Saturday evening, so the place was packed. You definitely need a reservation if you don't want to sit in the lounge/bar area for dinner. The food is great. It was busy, so the chef was running a little behind, but the food was great and definitely worth the wait. I ate all of the food on my plate! The service was great. The staff was very friendly and very apologetic for the wait. I had a great time and really enjoyed my meal there!

Eh. I had high hopes, but I left disappointed. We made a 6:45 reservation but weren't seated till 7:15. Took 10 minutes before the asst. waiter brought us water....which he spilled all over the table. It was Another 15 minutes before we saw our waiter, who told us "patience is a virtue". Seriously. Wine took another 15 minutes after that. Asst. waiter stole my bread plate 4 times in his haste. At one point he brought me a dirty one and tried to scrape debris off the plate in front of me and then handed it to me! My filet was excellent. The gumbo was good. The mashed potatoes were outstanding, but the spinach and asparagus were just plain nasty. Soggy, wilted, no seasoning at all. Nothing at all like other locations I've visited. I didn't even eat them. The asst. waiter tried to de crumb our table, but he knocked over my wine glass instead. He was kind enough to box up my filet and dessert, and then he carried it away to the kitchen on his tray until I intercepted him. It was like a Seinfeld episode at this point. Most of my meal was good, but for 210 dollars I expect perfection. This was a far cry from prior experiences at other locations. We honestly got much better service at Cracker Barrel the next morning!

I feel like I am such a country bumpkin when I was here. The hubby and I came for date night/anniversary dinner earlier this month. He had on a suit so you know we went serious business. Parking in town center was a drag and we were 15 mins late for our reservation but after calling in a panic, the restaurant assured us it would be okay. We were seated almost as soon we walked in. Everything was superb! The food was perfection (as it should have been for those prices) the waiter and assistant waiter were very knowledgeable of the menu and wine selections. And hey, the fact that one apologized for serving on the right instead of the left...I was sold. The place is a bit pricey so be prepared before you step in there but it is totally worth it.

Shame on you if you come to RC and order a chicken or crab cakes. This place continues to do great things when it comes to putting up some high quality meats. Get a filet and order it rare. The plate is so hot that by the time it gets to you it's between rare and medium rare. There's enough butter in the bowl of mashed potatoes you'll have a heart attack but it's well worth the flavor. Today they had a berry sorbet as dessert... that thing last all of 15 seconds. I still have yet to spend a dime in this place. Even if I had to pay for my meal it's still well worth the quality of the food. :)

Service was top notch. Food was just excellent, particularly the jumbo shrimp and the perfect cooked to order steaks. It was an unforgettable experience and I can't wait to be back! Parking was a little tricky on a Friday evening, as this location shares a municipal lot with several other venues, and there is a "two hour limit." I moved my car in between courses, just in case someone was checking. After dinner, I retired to the balcony for drinks and enjoyed the breezes on the couch with my family. It was very difficult to leave if not for the parking limit because the servers brought us whatever we wanted right until closing, and we were very comfortable.

I've eaten steaks from the humble Jimmy's Steakhouse in my hometown where all the offerings were prepared on a flat grill, to the Bouchon Bistro, to the legendary Peter Luger's and yet, I have to wonder how a restaurant can cook beef so often, over so many years and still serve a steak which is not even mediocre. The first piece of tenderloin that was presented to me was cold with the first bite I tucked into - not warm, not cool, but COLD. When I rejected it, the second was no better - the surface was gray and soft with none of the deep mahogany color, caramelization nor mouth feel of a proper sear. Judging what was served to me, I would say that the steaks appeared to have been cooked (perhaps "steamed" is more accurate) in a microwave by a vegan then plopped onto "sizzling" plates heated in a salamander. Also, the Potatoes au Gratin were so undone, they were as crisp as a fresh apple. Terrible! Oh, I was comped the cost of the entree which was the least I should expect seeing that I ate all of four bites from two steaks, but that was little compensation for an evening ruined. I was also served a complimentary order of potatoes which, since the first order was so regrettably unacceptable, remained untouched. If Gordon Ramsey had seen what was presented to me, he would have invented new four-letter words to express his thoughts.

Visited Ruth's Chris again last night for dinner and, as always, enjoyed every second of it. The bread basket is fresh and warm with light whipped butter on the side was good as always while we got our drinks and decided on our main course. I got the wedge salad as I always do and it was delicious. I opt for the ranch dressing on top and their ranch dressing is sooo good. It tastes like they probably mix it up there and I am a huge ranch snob. I ordered the filet mignon cooked medium well with a side of the creamy cheesy spinach and a side of the sweet potato casserole. All were cooked perfectly and served promptly and neatly. For dessert I got my staple - the creme brulee with fresh blueberries, strawberries and blackberries. It was, as always, perfect, light and absolutely wonderful. It was a little more crowded than usual because it was the week of Valentine's Day but we were seated promptly upon arrival at our table (we had a reservation and showed up around 10 minutes early) and served very quickly. Our server's name was Jason and he was fantastic - we've always had excellent service but I liked him the best. He was prompt, on point, personable and knowledgable about the entrees and sides. Also, the quiet and reserved atmosphere of Ruth's Chris is always enjoyable to me. I've never had a screaming baby or child running around tables while eating here, it's just not the type of place where something like that would be allowed to happen and that is perfectly fine with me, in fact, I prefer it since I do not have children. Once again - a yummy trip to Ruth's Chris.

I love their chicken but this is a steakhouse so this past visit i finally tried the steak. I of myself a steak lover and I find that steaks at high end steak places are just a waste of money because they are completely unseasoned. So I had a perfectly cooked unseasoned prime steak. Such a waste!!! I felt the same about Chop House in Norfolk and Passion in Chesapeake. However the chicken is excellent here at Ruth's Chris.

Ok... I know people say that it is stupid to go to a place that costs as much as this does... but really, if you look at it, it is no more than other quality steak house in the big picture. I love a good filet... 9oz, with a delish 1 lb'er loaded potato... that is heaven! So you order your sides a la carte... that doesn't add up to much worse than Aberdeen! And the food is better! However, I must say, I can come here, and get the Veal Osso Bucco Ravioli and the Pineapple Upside Down Martini and be in heaven... it is better than "Calgon, take me away..." When hubby got the prime rib, it was like warm steak flavored butter, melting away in my mouth, just saying, I have been waiting on you all day... and the fresh bread accents it all so perfectly!!! Now... the staff.... And I do not feel it is because of the money... but they are wonderful!!! I have witnessed many guests, dressed to the "nines", and others that looked like they drained their retirement, all treated like gold!!! We are always given the sweet cream in a chocolate shell and fresh berries after dinner, and when they chatted and found out we were military, gave us complimentary Pelligrino for hubby. Bottom line, yes, be prepared to drop a pretty penny, or 5, but know, it's worth every one of them!!! And, if you want to get a perfectly cooked, quality steak every time, you can't go wrong, with great staff and great times!!! Give it a shot....

This place is fantastic. From good service to delicious food. There is nothing better. Their scallops melt in your mouth. They have this sweet potato casserole with a nice sweet buttery walnut crunch. That's a side, but trust it's enough to share. The steak is fabulous. Another mouth warming melt like butter greatness. I truly have nothing bad to say. Even the ambient lighting is great.

New Year's eve dinner. We made reservations at 6:45 pm and were seated around 7:15. Waiting area was busy all night around the hostess station. Once seated everyone was trying to play catch up. The assistant waiter spilled water all over my wife's side of the table. My wife also got 4 bread plates because the assistant kept taking her's. Got the chef's special. Gumbo was the best selection I had. My wife's filet was much better than my ribeye. Waiter gave us 15% discount voluntarily for our troubles, but a $210 dinner would have been better if made it my own. Asparagus was very bland and unexciting. Mash potatoes and chocolate dessert were very good. If you want steak it's probably the best in VB, but go on a slow night and have low expectations. You may be surprised!

I made a reservation at 9:45pm on a Saturday on Open Table. No problem. It wasn't very crowded. Upon entering, the hostesses were very polite, and we were seated within a few minutes. My group of friends (3 others) and I were out to celebrate a major work accomplishment. When we seated, we noticed the table was decorated with "Congratulations" confetti. I thought that was very neat and thoughtful. When our waitress came introduced herself, I still had an open mind and was in a very good mood. That didn't last long. To celebrate, we all wanted to share a bottle of wine. We were given the wine list, and one of my friends (very familiar with wines) was deciding on what to order. it took us a few minutes to figure out what we wanted as I was the only one who had dined with RC before. When the waitress came to take our drink orders, everything started out smoothly. She went through the specials and answered our questions with great detail. However, when it came to ordering the wine, my friend was trying to decide on a Cabernet Sauvignon and asked a few simple questions. The waitress did answer his questions but in a demeaning, somewhat sarcastic way. We were asking for suggestions in the beginning, but when someone starts insulting customers and the intelligence level or whatever they are judging us on, I pick up on that RIGHT AWAY. When the wine was ordered, I asked my friend if he thought something was not right in her manners. He agreed with me. Drinks... The Bee's Knees is NOT the bee's knees. The cocktail was WAY TOO sweet and just was not good. I sent it back. The next cocktail I tried was Victoria Secret.. With a sexy name like that, I figured it was bound to be delicious. I was wrong. There was so much Malibu used in it, I thought I was going to overdose on my coconut intake! It was so bad. However, I didn't want to be the one who sent back 2 drinks so I kept it.. (but didn't drink all of it) The Cab was pretty good. No complaints. I can't recall the exact one we ordered. When the main dishes, arrived, I ordered from the RC Classics. I ordered a house salad (decent), a filet mignon, sauteed mushrooms, and raspberry cheesecake with chocolate bark. The mushrooms were a big disappointment. They were so bland and boring. Having eaten at other RC locations, I ASSUMED this filet mignon was going to be spectacular. Oh, was I WRONG. My medium filet turned out to be medium rare. This was the BIGGEST disappointment of the evening. This Ruth's Chris location just murdered what a good filet mignon is supposed to taste like. I just decided to eat most of it because I didn't want to set the record on sending things back. (I RARELY send things back. When I go to more expensive restaurants and plan on dropping some serious cash, it better be worth it.) The dessert (raspberry cheesecake and chocolate bark) was mediocre. The cake was super sweet and just too much for me. I did not enjoy it. The chocolate pieces with almonds (I think) eeded up being the most memorable part... The restrooms were clean and well maintained. I take customer service very seriously. I truly felt that our waitress was rude and came across and nosy as she asked us some rather questions... I will NOT be dining here again in this location. Maybe I would give 1.5 stars, but definitely not more than 2. GREATLY DISAPPOINTED. My friends and I did not leave pleased and WILL NOT return. My only regret is that my four other friends had to experience such a poor-mannered establishment with sub-par food as their first experience with Ruth's Chris.

There's a reason Ruth's Chris has spread across the country. It is excellent. The service is top notch. The food is fantastic. The wait staff are supremely knowledgable about the menu. This Ruth's in particular is more awesome than most because they serve the "Tomahawk", a 30oz bone in Wagyu (American raised Kobe beef) ribeye. Obviously large enough for two, but I cannot lie, I've taken down one of these solo, it's that good. I can also recommend their version of a Manhattan, I'm not a bourbon drinker, but the waiter (Gustav) recommended it, I wound up ordering a second one. Start with their Wedge salad & the complimentary fresh bread, then the Tomahawk, skip the sides. If you've got room for dessert , you're more of a man than me. Can't wait to go back.

Food was great but everything else was awful! Had reservations for 12 for Xmas eve made in early Nov. Reconfirmed on the 22nd; they reconfirmed on the 23. When we got there, they had a table for 10! They moved a square table against the round table for ten, which made for awkward seating. We waited for menus, waited for service waited for entrees. The side were served after the entrees had been cleared. It was a freakin disaster. Never again

Went here for Valentine's day. Made reservations right a month ahead of time. Was seated right on time. There Was confetti on the table that was themed. Our waiters name was Grady and he did an absolutely phenomenal job. We ordered the barbeque shrimp for an appetizer and the filet for dinner. Best steak I have ever tasted in my life. The whole experience was amazing. Such a romantic vibe in this restaurant great for date nights.

I was saying,"You can give yourself a treat day; you just got paid! You want steak, so go!" (No, not every payday is a treat day, but that day I talked myself right into having a Ruth Chris dining experience to compare it to my Shula's 347 experience.) To be fair, I ordered everything I had ordered at Shula's: a filet mignon with sauteed mushrooms & onions, a side of steamed broccoli, a house salad and a glass of a cabernet sauvignon. It was more costly, but the meal was scrumptious and the staff were all into keeping me content. I'm not rich, so when I pay that much for a meal, I expect close to perfection- from start to finish. They were so close to getting the 5 star rating, but failed miserably with my credit card security, hence their 3 star rating. The server failed to ask for my ID when I presented my credit card for payment. (Clearly on the back says- SEE PHOTO ID.) Don't know if it was overlooked, or if the server didn't care; either one shows Ruth Chris needs to change or to enforce this policy.

"Is this a special occasion?" We were asked that three times by three people, the hostess, the person who took us to our table and by our waiter. Perhaps they use the answer to decide where to sit you. If it's your anniversary then you aren't going to be a regular, I don't know but I guess we answered correctly because our dining area was beautiful. Mahogany everywhere, a roaring fire, people dressed nicely, no crying babies, all the good things. We ordered a lime martini and a dirty vodka dry for me, yes, I would like a glass of wine when dinner comes. Our waiter decided I would prefer my olives to be stuffed with bleu cheese, uh, no I don't like the way they cloud the vodka, fortunately he hadn't actually put them into my drink but I had to wait 5 minutes for him to come back with the standard olives. Fairly presumptuous on his part. He ordered the tomatoes with bleu cheese crumbles and I ordered the crabtini for apps. The tomatoes at Terrapin are far superior and my crab was plentiful and sweet but the cilantro (not mentioned in the description) was annoying. It's one of the few flavors I don't like so I spent a bit of time separating it from the crab. Our waiter did not come back to our table to check on us. We enjoyed the spacing between courses, it gave us time to be giddy and slow our pace down a bit to reconnect. The music was enjoyable and just the right volume the room seemed quiet but was full of people, just perfect. Out came my filet, his prime rib, our mushrooms to share and our loaded baked potato to share. Hmmm, someone in the kitchen decided to cut the "one pound" baked potato for us (didn't look like a pound to me). It was two smashed halves, extremely unattractive. My half had the butter and sour cream, his had only cheese and bacon. We would have done a much better job, in fact, we wouldn't have cut it at all. Two forks, one dish, perfect. Then we could have picked out what we each like. Funny, they didn't separate the mushrooms for us. It was at this time our waiter asked my for my wine selection and hubs dinner beverage. A tad bit late as far as I'm concerned. It should have already been on the table when that hot meat was delivered. I asked for his selection for a cab, funny, he chose the least expensive on the menu, $9.00, so I went with it. I was 1/4 way through my filet (I only finished half) before my wine was delivered. He set it on the table and walked away. No, I don't like it. No body, very thin, drank it anyways. Hub had a beer. Yes, the meat was heaven, loved the horseradish sauce with it. Side note, the table behind us was not happy with this server either. I heard the gentleman say to the waiter, "oh, nice to finally meet you, we have been sitting here for 15 minutes". I don't ever mention a servers name when they didn't do a good job, ever, and I won't. We all have a bad day. After reading reviews beforehand we ordered the creme brulee, two spoons. They didn't separate it for us, thank you. It was extremely good. Nice crust, sweet cream. A very nice end to our dining experience.

First, let me advise you to ask for Suzanne to be your waitress! She's probably the most professional waitress I've ever met. As for the restaurant itself, it's the best! You will love everything about it. Though you'll spend a bit, you won't regret it. This is dining perfection!

this is a classy place! the service and food was amazing and the size of the portions were more than generous so I would recommend sharing. We both had steak and it was one of the best I've ever had. There is no doubt that you get what you pay for here as it is extremely expensive, we spent over $100 between two ppl with no drinks appetizers or deserts, an we split a side between the two of us. I would only return for special occasions due to the price but if you can afford it go for it!

Ruth's Chris is amazing. First time we went we got the Caesar salad to share. Best salad of my life. However, a few months later we came back and the serving sizes had gotten smaller. The steak is amazing. I got the ribeye and my boyfriend gets the bigger (cowboy?) ribeye. Worth the price.

Absolutely loved the service here! Super top notch. One of my friends had a problem with his steak - even though it was served on a sizzling plate, the inside was still cold. He told the server, server took the plate, recooked it and when it came back out, it was no longer medium but well done. My friend of course was not pleased so we told our server. Server calls the manager and the manager tells us that the steak will be taken off our bill and that he can get my friend a new steak order. Meanwhile, my friend's Ribeye was perfect and my sea bass was okay. Best part of the meal for me was their FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE. It was divine. After I finished mine, I ate my friend's cake. Lol. Anyway, come billing time, we ended up still being charged for my friend's steak. Minus 1 star for that.

We were on a weekend gateway and decided to check this place out. Addison was our server and he was great, he broke down the menu for us, explain everything, told us about portion sizes and flavor profiles. We had no questions, which is great cause I am super indecisive and he made it really easy for me. My sirloin was cooked to perfection; I've never had such a juicy perfectly seasoned meat in my life. The cheesecake was on point, it was super decadent as dessert should be. I loved every minute of it. I would go back to Virginia just for that, but thankfully there is one home in NY, hopefully their service is just as great.

My wife and I went there to celebrate our anniversary. We knew it would be expensive, so that is not the driving force behind this review. The service was impeccable. Both our waiter and his assistant could not have been better. We enjoyed everything but the steak. We both ordered the 6 oz filet and shrimp. I tasted hers and mine to be sure. Both steaks had gristle, Mine had 3 gum size chunks of gristle, her's had only 2. What bothered me the most was that the filet did not taste like filet mignon. it had the consistency of New York Strip. it was dense, not melt in your mouth. The outer coating was delicious, it was prepared perfectly (pink in the middle) but it was somewhat chewy the whole way through. We did not let this spoil our romantic evening and we both chewed through it. (we don't like to send anything back). I would not go back here for a steak. We both enjoyed the atmosphere and the way we were treated. We just expected the steak to be amazing, that's why we went there. I have cooked Filet Mignon at home and it comes out more tender than what we were served.

My family returned to RCSH for Thanksgiving again, while the food was awesome as always, it was the staff that left me wanting. The restaurant was packed with patrons, which is a great sign of RCSH's success. However, despite our reservation, we were given the worst table in the house, which we promptly declined. The table sat 5 feet from the reception desk and at the intersection of a heavily traversed area of RCSH. When we declined, our hostess' voice went high pitched said "No, there are no other tables available". Since we were only 5 feet from the reception table, a more experienced hostess came over and took us to another table further into the restaurant. When we inquired about getting a booth, our new hostess said, those were by "special request only". It would have been nice to know that tidbit when we made our reservation over a month ago. We were handed menus and waited. We waited 20 minutes for water and bread. We waited 30 minutes to give our order. We waited an hour before our salads arrived. We waited an hour and 30 minutes for our entree's to arrive. All told it was a three hour meal!! We ordered an appetizer of crab dip ($15). When we ran out of toasted bread, we asked for more. Our waiter left and 10 minutes later (with our crab dip cooling quickly) returned with no bread and saying they were "out of toasted bread". He said he had a few cold pieces left, but it would be another 15 minutes before they had more bread. I dumped the rest of our crab dip on two pieces of cold bread. Sigh.... When our appetizers arrived. I was told I was "lucky" because I got the last of the Seafood Gumbo. I didn't feel too lucky, when I realized how little gumbo I got. The chef must have picked up the pot and scraped it into my bowl, which only produced about a cup or two. My gumbo was gone in four spoonfuls. Sigh... RCSH certainly weren't lacking in staff, as they were running to-and-fro like busy beavers. This particular RCSH is smaller than most, but there had to be 30 waiters and five receptionists. Yet, I watched one older employee, Helen (I think), spend hours and I mean hours, going between just two adjoining tables talking nonstop with those patrons. While the food was good, the staff and the kitchen need to be more organized and their hostesses need more training in customer service and how to be more "attentive" to their customer's needs. Hostesses need to remember RCSH is not an Outback Steakhouse.

If you're craving sizzling, tender beef, Ruth's Chris is the place to go! After building up an appetite from biking around Norfolk all day, we decided to stop by here for a late dinner on our last night in VA. Fortunately, we were able to get a table on the outside balcony overlooking the town center plaza to enjoy the warm evening. We waited for a little while to order drinks (not realizing we had arrived about 10 minutes before 9:00 closing...oops), but once things got rolling the personal service was on point for the remainder of the meal, which is typical here. Being the carnivore I am, I ordered the rib-eye steak with mashed potatoes. Spectacular! Ruth's Chris is a great restaurant for a delicious meal or a special occasion. You'll fork out some dough, but sometimes it's nice to splurge and have a good time. Oh, and for God's sake, Don't Touch the Plate!

Wow, I hate to give this location 3 stars, but unfortunately I think that this location is now, "average." I have always been a big fan of RC, and have been to several around the world. Each location tends to have its own unique identity, and the Town Center location, doesn't deviate from that formula. When you enter into the RC location, there is plenty of wood to greet you. The interior still gives you a an upscale chophouse feel. This is my third time visiting this location, since it has been open, and I must the only thing that I feel reflects the original quality is the interior. Staff is still pleasant, but at a location where the average table could bring $20-100 gratuities, easily (even if it is split with others), I feel that the "attentiveness" wasn't as great as it used to be. On my last visit, we received hot bread, but didn't have any bread plates at our table, by the time we received bread plates, the bread was cold. By the time warm bread came to the the table, the appetizer was already out. One thing about RC is the SIGNATURE SIZZLE.... which was missing from our steak when it arrived at the table... it was sizzling, but sounded more like a backup singer for a Chili's fajita platter. Maybe the plates were too cool? I ordered my Filet Medium, which usually, leaves the steak hot and mouthwatering. Well It was more rare than anything and at points, tougher than what you would expect. Next time I think I will stick with the Ribeye. The taste of the steak and food was good as usual, just timing, hits and misses. But I think this is where the biggest "miss" comes in, and will probably have me looking for a "better" alternative to the RC brand. When this location first opened, there was a posted dress code. This dress code is now gone. I grew up in a time when you walked into a restaurant that you were going to drop a few hundred dollars on dinner for two, that it LOOKED like a $100/plate place. Now when walking into RC, don't be surprised to see people in t-shirts and baseball caps. For that, I think I would have been better off going to Texas Roadhouse. You don't visit places like RC for just the food, but more for the service and ambiance. Now that the ambiance is no longer there, I can't see paying high end money for a mid level experience.

We went here for our first anniversary, and they really did their best to make it special for us, and memorable. Our table was ready for us in a gorgeous room, and even had little "Happy Anniversary" decorations on it. All of the staff were very professional and friendly. The bread was fresh and warm, and went down perfectly with our wine. I had the sliced tomato and onion salad, and it was delicious! The tomato tasted like it had just come fresh out of the garden... I wish I could recreate it at home, but that dressing would be hard to duplicate! It was amazing. We had the filet and the barbecue shrimp for our entrees... steak and shrimp will never be the same for me after this! The steak melted in your mouth, and the shrimp were enormous... served (again) in a completely delicious sauce. The only downside (and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) were our side orders... asparagus and potatoes au gratin. Neither of them were anything great. I expected much better! All in all, it was a really fabulous night for us. Romantic, beautiful setting, wonderful staff, amazing food... can't wait for our next special occasion!

Going to Ruth's Chris is not something most of us can do with regularity but it's something that everyone should do at least once. It's a great experience. We have been twice to this location and both times have been fantastic. This review is for a recent outing when my wife and I went for an early Valentine's Day night out. Arriving at this Ruth's Chris is a funny experience. Heading up to the restaurant, they have an escalator for your convenience. However, once you are done, it's stairs for you. I guess they either don't care once they get your money or figure you need to work off the meal by walking down stairs. We had reservations at 6:30 and we were seated right away. Our server was named Christy and she did a great job. She was personable, professional, and attentive throughout our meal. We started out with drinks and an appetizer. My wife ordered an appletini and I had a glass of merlot. We ordered the veal ravioli which was very good. For dinner, the wife ordered a petite filet (8 oz.) and I ordered the ribeye (16 oz.). We had mashed potatoes, baked potato, and spinach as our sides. Yeah, we went crazy with the potatoes but we are meat and potato people! My wife orders her steak well done and to be honest, hers was probably too well done, even for her. But, that is the risk you run when you go well done. Mine was prepared perfectly. They bring the steaks out on 500 degree plates and mine was sizzling and popping as it was delivered. It smelled great and tasted better. A steak at Ruth's Chris is such a treat. The ribeye is so so good. As I type this review at 10 am, it makes me hungry thinking about it. The sides were good and the bread they bring is outstanding. The meal experience is wonderful. We skipped dessert. Shhh, don't tell the Ruth's Chris people but we planned to walk down to cheesecake factory afterward to get cheesecake. I am sure their dessert is great but we weren't quite ready to have it at the moment. We did, however, have a fun little conversation with our server and servers assistant about the appropriateness of eating the apple in the appletini. In case you were wondering, the consensus is that it's perfectly OK :) With tip included, we spent just short of $200. For us, that is an obscene amount of money to spend on a meal. But, it is great food and great service and for a special occasion, it's worth doing once in a while.

Never a bad steak at RC, and we have eaten here all over the country. We have had our fair share of poor service, but the food is worth it. Have family all over the country and visit them frequently, this is always our go to steak place. Thanks RC for all the great memories!

For our 11th year anniversary, my wife wanted to go to Ruth's Chris. My initial response was "WHY?? Don't you want a new cell phone or a necklace? It would be cheaper and last longer!" I just couldn't wrap my head around a $100 steak dinner for 2. But as you fellas know, what she wants is what she gets. When we got there, we waited about 20 minutes to be seated. We had a very friendly waiter, who was very accommodating. Firstly he asked for the drink order, which we only ordered water. Then we started with some mushrooms stuffed with crab cake, which was around $17. I will say that was well worth the price! Now for the entrée. The wife ordered the New York Strip and I had the Stuffed Chicken Breast, which the waiter split for us so we could both enjoy. I really wasn't impressed. The chicken and steak was good, but I've had better out of my mom's kitchen, at 4 times cheaper in price. It just wasn't that "melts in your mouth" type of steak others flap their gums about. I give this place 4 stars for the service (the water dude kept walking past me... I had to switch my glass with my wife's in order to get the glass refilled... damn, am I THAT ugly??), a 5 for those stuff mushrooms. 3 for the main course, and a 1 for the price. This is more like a 3-1/2 star rating for me. Will I go back? Sure... if somebody else is treating. My job does not pay me enough to eat here on the regular. But if you can throw down over $100 for 2, try it out. It might be better than what I got.

Very expensive but very excellent. The service is definitely excellent, the food is excellent. The wait staff are divine! Everything is superb but the prices are extreme. Even your baked potato and salad are extra and very expensive. I guess it's worth it on a rare occasion but if the prices were lower we would go more often. They even dealt with our younger children pretty well on a rare occasion.

If I had reviewed this after my first visit, I would have given it a thumbs down. My first steak there was coated in nothing but pepper, I couldn't even eat it. However, since I was at a business function, and it would have been disruptive to the business meeting, I said nothing. My second trip was much better. The steak was aged perfectly and tender. No more ridiculous amount of pepper. Their service is truly top notch.

My first and only time eating there. Food was very good, however my steak ordered medium rare was overcooked (barely any pink, let alone some red) I'm not one to send back food that is still edible, but for an upscale high priced steak house I found that to be very amateur

We just LOVE Ruth's Chris for the service and the flavor of the food. Everything is always so consistent there. This place didn't disappoint. It is located at Town Center on the second floor after Main Street dead ends into the fountain. You will see it straight ahead. There is an escalator that escorts you up or you can take the stairs. Upon arrival you will see double mahogany doors that adorn the lobby. This place is like most other Ruth's Chris, very elegant and you will realize once inside that this is a chain. One thing for folks to know, Ruth's Chris knows their menu and how to prepare food! They really excel here. Be prepared to drop about $200 if you are going to have the drinks and appetizers and if you just want a basic meal without alcohol then be prepared to spend a little over $100. Don't forget to tip! :) They have outdoor balcony seating, I chose not to opt for that as it was so hot outside. Either place you dine I am sure you will enjoy it. But remember, no escalator down!

Great! The service first of all is perfect. We love it. The apps and salads are perfect we all get lobster bisque every time shrimp cocktail. Tone for two served by your server was great...a lot of butter so eat some of that tasty bread. Tuna tar tar great. Filet perfect. The sides got smaller we thought. Overall great. Outdoor dining also great and the bar is old school nice.

I know a lot of you readers like this restaurant. The steaks are above the Outback quality but surely nothing to rave about. They are served at your table sizzling on a hot metal platter. However the grease has to go somewhere. So, you don't want to be wearing expensive clothes ( jackets, ties, shirts) or allow another 20 bucks per person for dry cleaning. Ice tea is as much as a glass of wine ( I don't get it). Sides are just plain nothing to highlight your main course. We are from Las Vegas and dine out frequently. Dropping a bill and a half or more for dinner is not heart stopping. When you enjoy good food you are able to distinguish between the grades. Sorry, this doesn't measure up for the tab.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is a bit of a strange operation. They're a part of the Town Center area of Virginia Beach, and as such they fit the slightly "upscale" corporate feel. I think though that the place has a strange marketing concept going on. On the one hand, the logo and the general feel of the staff is that it's a laidback STEAKHOUSE... kind of a macho thing, like, Yeah... STEAK! But on the other hand, the menu and some of the interior aesthetic would suggest that it's a ritzy place with fancy decorations and a haute cuisine presumption. This really throws me off. The staff is nice, but they seem a little agitated under the surface. I'm not sure exactly what gave me this impression. Perhaps it's the slightly hurried attitude our waiter had, or the distracted attention of our host. It's not something that's not understandable; it's just the way the place operates. I don't mind a bit of a rush feel as long as it's done correctly. This, however, bordered on annoying, especially when coupled with the weird décor. The steak I ordered was cooked correctly, which is always a good sign. My medium rare was actually medium rare. The portion was fair, but there wasn't anything truly amazing about it. The Stuffed Chicken Breast is also worth checking out. It's filled with a garlic herb cheese that is delicious.

Great service and ideal for special occasion. They are a chain but know their food. Keep this is mind when you can afford to splurge. The plates are a bit small so difficult to share the sides.

TEN stars?? Um...after our New Year's disaster at Vintage Kitchen, the hubbs called at 6:05pm, ON New Year's Eve, NEVER expecting anything...it was a total shot in the dark, but the amazing hostess Kelsey offered us an 8pm seating. Now, I would have been thrilled with that, but my husband had to push it, and actually asked if they had anything earlier (yes, I could have smacked him), and she said she could get us in right away! Why did we even try to go anywhere else in the first place? Who knows? We won't make the mistake and stray again!! As always, the food and service was amazing, but it was Kelsey that really saved our entire evening, without a doubt.

We love Ruth's Chris. I randomnly got a $20 gift certificate e-mailed to me from the loyalty program, so off we went. We went on a Sunday. The downside is that the Prime Rib is served on Fridays and Saturdays only! Boo. I ordered the Petite Filet instead. I've had it before, and it was fantastic as always, I just love me some Prime Rib. I also ordered the House Salad with Balsalmic (made in house). That was delicious and surprisingly filling. The husband got the normal size filet and enjoyed it as well. I think that's what he always gets. We shared the Potatoes au gratin. We normally just get mashed potatoes, but we were happy with the change-up. They were delish. We also shared the Creme Brulee. Amazing. The service is always great. Very attentive. Again, I have to complain about the way people dress around here. Jeans and a t-shirt?! Flip-flops?! Shorts?! I'm starting to think that maybe I need to redefine Business Casual for myself....

Unfortunately I only have enough money to eat here once or twice a year lol, but when I do, I go all out. I always celebrate my Birthday at this Ruth Chris and I spend it in the Library. You want to have a great date or surprise your significant other and enjoy yourselves in the ambiance, this is definitely the place!

My first time here and it was amazing! We had a great server who was very knowledgeable of the entire menu and made us feel welcomed from the time we walked in and confirmed our reservations. The food was delicious and plenty leftover to take home. The bill was insane but all worth it for my birthday. I loved the ambiance as well.

I have eaten here many times on company gatherings. The steak is wonderful and it's what you should order. Order the fish and then punch yourself in the face for not doing what I told you to do. It's pr icy. So keep that in mind. You can get steak like this at Aberdeen barn but you also would feel like you are eating a steak in your grand parents basement there. (Sorry Aberdeen barn, but update the decor a bit. ) This is the kind of place you come to if you are independently wealthy or special occasions or both. (Lucky you). Also the plates come out very very hot , not like the wait staff will let you forget it, little bit of a buzz word they like to throw around the place like its going out of style. They seriously must get royalties out of it or something. The quality of the meet and cooking method is what make the trip worth it. Now you could get yourself an induction cooktop, a good quality cast iron pan, and get it up to about 500 degrees and throw a room temp USDA prime steak on it and get a nice sear on it about 3 mins each side and then let it rest for 20 min before stuffing you're face, or just go here drop 100$ and just eat it :$

We had the 6 oz filet and shrimp--perfectly grilled!! Sides were excellent. Dessert was delicious--pineapple coconut bread pudding. Our server was Helene and she was outstanding. Highly recommend!!

This was our second visit to this location. Our first visit Glenn was our server and we had a negative experience with him. For this reason, when we called to make our reservations again we requested a different server. Glenn seated us (even though we specifically asked not to have him) and first brought us to his section, making it a production about it and stating loudly "Oh sorry I can't seat you here. This is my section." Then Glenn proceeded to bring us to a different section. We requested a booth (the restaurant was not even half full and there were plenty of booths available) in which he loudly said "Oh let me go check and see if this booth is reserved"...At this point Glenn had walked us all over the entire restaurant searching for a table. We were a little confused at this point why he was seating us, since we specifically requested a different server than him and there were plenty of other staff and servers available. He walked us back to the front of the restaurant, asked the hostess if that table was reserved (in which she said no), and walked us back to the back of the restaurant to seat us. At that point, Glenn loudly said "If you need me to move the table so you can fit in the booth I can" (I am 7 months pregnant and there was more than enough room for me to fit inside the booth. I do not know where Glenn learned his manners but that is no way to speak to anyone, especially someone who is pregnant). The table seated behind us even turned around after he made the inappropriate statement because they heard what he had said and joined in on the fun stating "If you need us to move our table we can too". I didn't say anything back to him. My husband and I at that point felt incredibly uncomfortable for obvious reasons. We then waited at least ten minutes and no one even came over to greet us or take our drink orders. We got up and left. Our first experience was negative because of Glenn and we thought we would give this restaurant another chance. However, because of Glenn's behavior and words we will never be coming back to a Ruth's Chris again. We know you make most of your money off of business dinners and this is probably not a big deal to you. We want to be treated with respect and encounter kind welcoming people with manners. No one should be treated the way that we were treated. I called the restaurant after we had left to speak to the manager (I did not get the manager's name). The manager did not apologize for Glenn after I explained to him what happened but simply said he was "sorry I felt the way I felt" and made excuses for Glenn's behavior stating that he was "only trying to make me feel comfortable". If that is Ruth's Chris' way of making customers feel comfortable I would love to know what they are learning in training. After speaking with the manager it is understandable why the employee would behave in such a way. The manager was just as bad as Glenn. The steaks here are good but the service is HORRIBLE.

My husband and I went to Ruth's Chris for our 10 year anniversary and had a magnificent time. When we made our reservation, they were very pleasant on the phone and made sure to mark our special occasion. When we arrived our table was ready and absolutely perfect! It was tucked in the corner with a window that overlooked the towncenter. Gaston was wonderful and really took his time with us. Any questions we had he was able to answer. He wasn't pushy at all with us to order more or to buy a more expensive wine. The food arrived and timing was spot on and was cooked to perfection. I'm glad we were told before hand that the sides are large enough to share because they were! My father told me that the deserts were small but when it was served we were shocked at how large the serving was as well. It's expensive but totally worth it in my opinion. We will be back, due to the cost it will not be often but definitely for special occasions.

Delicious. Awesome. Amazing. That's the best way to describe this place. I took my wife there for her bday. Everything was outstanding every employee there made us feel welcome and special. They address us by our names, wiped crumbs off the table, escort you to the bathroom, everybody from the hostess to the waitress to the manager even the bus boy wished my wife a happy birthday. It's the only place I have had a choice if water which might seem silly to some folks but it was different for me. I had a couple of cocktails and both were great. The appetizer was delicious. Oh man the steak was on another level. I got a 16oz strip and when it came out it looked way bigger than 16oz. It was so thick and cooked to medium rare perfection. My wife's fillet was also out of this world. The sides were plentiful, enough to share with 3 or 4 people. The desert was mouth watering and jaw dropping delicious. It was the whiskey glazed bread pudding or something like that. Yes this place is expensive but you can make it cheaper and more manageable. My advice skip the appetizer because the bread is great, avoid alcohol, get a smaller steak and get desert somewhere else. But if you want a truly special evening then go all out just be ready for the bill. I knew this going in there so I wasn't totally shocked when the bill came. I hope to come back on more special occasions I just have to pick up a few more hours at my part time job.

Now I'm not going to say that I'm an expert at steak. But I am. ; ) Ruth Chris is one of the steak houses that has the top 2% choice beef in the United States. I can say that the Filet Mignon is pretty good at this place. On my list it would capture the number four spot so far. Maybe - possibly - tie for third place. Of course with such a good steak house you are going to look at higher prices. About $50.00 to $60.00 bucks per person or so. Which really isnt to bad. Think we had six people in our party and the bill came to $450.00 or so total. Drinks are around 11.00 + depending on what you order. The waiting staff was very attentive and professional as well. Side Note: In the summer time you can get a table at the balcony which overlooks a town center where a live band will sometimes play in the evening.

To this day, still the best steak of my LIFE. I always get the same thing, the petite filet, but my husband got the NY Strip and that was equally flavorful, if not moreso. I think it's because it has this delicate butter crust. Mmmmmm. We had been to a Ruth Chris in DC and don't quite remember it being this stuffy and formal; maybe it was because it was a Monday night? Either way, a place can definitley be "too nice" sometimes and totally turn you off. Our server was kind of weird and needed to loosen up a bit, but he redeemed himself by coming over with a little birthday dessert on the house for my husband at the end of the meal. One thing I really don't like at restaurants though is when servers only recommend the most expensive of whatever you ask about. For example, if we ask an opinion on the cheapest glass of wine and the next cheapest glass of wine, don't recommend the wine that's at an entirely different price point all together. The most expensive glass of wine is usually the best, WE GET IT. This guy seemed to only suggest things that would ultimately get the bill up as much as possible so that was annoying having to navigate around his responses all night. We opted to go for wine/glass instead of a bottle (I don't like to commit) and that was definintley the way to go, as our Cabs and Pinot Noir were both different but amazing. We ordered: the cesear (fresh sliced parm, delicious!), the tomato & onion slices, the lyonnaise potatoes (eh, kind of just a greasy, sliced steak fry), the petite filet, and the NY Strip, as well as a couple glasses of wine each. To be sure, this is definitley a special occasion type of place, you won't be able to get out of here for under $150. But it's a classy, beautiful establishment that always delivers on food and ambiance every time. And when you want a juicy steak cooked to perfection and full of flavor, you can absolutely count on Ruth Chris.

This is one of those "very special" occasion places. You can certainly burn a hole at this place, but the food and service are worth it. Steaks comes to your table, sizzling on the plate. I love it. Literally the best steak I've ever had in my life! The inside is immaculate and the decor is very tasteful. They are only opened for dinner; however, usually during the holiday season, they open for lunch. Same great food, smaller portions for a smaller price (not much smaller - but any money saved here is a plus). A wonderful treat for a special night out.

I went here for my birthday in May, had a wonderful, elegant time with my fiancé. The lamb was perfect! My only complaint was when a girl that was not my waitress bagged my food for me, she did not include the little bit of sides I had left. Since the food was so expensive, I would assume they would let me take all of my leftovers home, even if it's a small amount. But I probably should have checked. Make sure you tell them! Other than that my waiter Cal was great and we had a great time!

Just got home from R.C. The meal was Amazing as always!!!! We got the calamari and the sushimi ? to start and both were excellent. On to my favorite..the filet. I got the blue cheese topped and the blue cheese didn't take away from the flavor of the steak at all. Their blue cheese is the best I've ever had. The asparagus was perfect also, not mushy and very fresh. I could go on and on.. Our waiter Jason was so attentive, great personality, and really paced our dinner perfectly. Gave us time to rest between courses and never rushed us...it is New Years Eve and was filling up fast, but he always just magically appeared at the right time. All the staff is good, but Jason has to be the the best waiter I've had so far and I've been about 10 times at this location. The prices are well worth it. The sides are HUGE and more than enough for 2. The General Manager came over to our table twice to make sure everything was to our liking. At the end of the night he gave us a $25.00 gift card .He definitly didn't have to do that as he knew from our conversation that it wasn't our 1st time there and we would be back. That was above and beyond what was expected. Please try R.C. If you haven't already. You WILL NOT regret it!!!! I promise!

Came here on the recommendation from my co-worker. - Appetizers: I really liked the chopped salad. My husband really liked the stuffed mushrooms. - Dinner: We both had filet mignon. They were good but not great. - Sides: Mash was yummy! Broccoli au gratin. Overall our dining experience went well. We are glad we came to check this place out. But for the price...not sure I would come back.

What an awesome diing experience, from the front door to out the door. We had a lovely time there just enjoying a great meal. The calamari appetizer was as flavorful as those I enjoyed in Rota Spain a number of years ago. Steaks were prepared to perfection and we split the family sized portions of garden fresh vegetables. I thank my son for recommending the place. Looking forward to having lunch in the near future.

We went to celebrate the BF's completion of his Master's program. We started with martinis at the bar. The BF's was a tad too dirty and the bartender added a little extra vodka to tone it down. Very nice. Drinks wer $11.75 each. After 20 minutes at the bar we were ready to move to the table. The hostess seated us at a nice table next to the windows. It's a dark wood kinda place, typical of most Ruth's Chris. Our server, Marilyn was wonderful. Just chatty enough without being pushy. Very nice! We do love the bread and butter and had to restrain ourselves from eating loaves and loaves of it. We started with an order of the lamb chops with mango chutney that were very good. Tender and tasty. We ordered glasses of wine with our dinner. BF had the blue cheese crusted filet and I had the ahi with crab and red pepper pesto. A broiled tomato on the side completed our meal. Everything was great. BF asked for steak between rare and med rare and wished he's gotten rare. My fish was rare and full of fresh garlic. The broiled tomato was lovely, too. We ordered another glass of wine, a glass of port and cup of coffee along with our dessert of chocolate explosion. The dessert was just ok, more like a giant warm chocolate muffin, nothing special. Oh, and as our app arrived, the bus boy knocked over the remaining martini and broke the glass. One our our glasses of wine was comped. They also comped our dessert since we were there celebrating graduation. Overall, a great, predictable experience. You do lose a little character of a local place, but the predicatbility is worth it. Second visit on 5/31/08 We asked to sit in Marilyn's section again, she's great. This time around we had the BBQ shrimp app and a wedge salad with bleu cheese. For our meal, we split a bone in ribeye with a baked potato. For dessert, we had the banana creme pie. The shrimp was good, not fabulous. I wish the lamb from our first visit was on the menu. The ribeye was great, really tasty. I prefer the broiled tomato to the baked potato. I struck out with dessert again, as I didn't care for the banana creme pie, it's jut not my thing. The BF loved it. Again, a very nice experience.

It is an expensive chain restaurant, but the food is delicious. I'm not sure the price justifies the quality. Also, Ruth puts on the butter. I do love the potatos al gratin and mashed potatos. If it is a special occasion they bring you complimentary chocolate mouse (delicious). I really like there meal deals, which typically include an appetizer, main course, side and dessert. If you are taking out a date or client, this place is made to impress. Virginia Beach's town center, where this place is located, is pretty nice. Check out Jones Art Gallery, which is next to PF Changs on Va Bch Blvd.
